ME TOO SERIES OF 3

a poem by Christina M. Watkins

1.
We come into this world blind
with arms flailing about
only guided by sound
wishing to be in the comfort
of warmth from which we were ripped from
there is no true memory of that
but we spend our lives looking
for warmth
feeling around for connection
sometimes that connection disconnects
leaving us without power
only hoping to be powered up again
if we only ran on batteries
then we’d know who’s in charge

2.
I am not afraid of anything.
I have courage.
I have swag. I hardly know what that means.
It drives through my veins.
I have assuredness.
I know how to think.
I know how to keep myself at peace.
In times of anger.
I find a calm resolve.
I am a cool breeze on Bahama bay.
No confusion. No distraction will tax me.
No heartache. No ambivalence.
No injustice. Just peace.
Piece of mind. Piece of spirit.
Piece of serenity.
Sarcasm drips heavily from full lips.

This is not opposite day.
I am strong.
I am strong.
I repeat quietly through joyful weeps.
Sarcasm drips heavily from full lips.
I am strong.
I am strong.
This is not opposite day.

3.
2 roads came to a point in the woods
Each had its marker
outlined with features
Each had its marker
outlined with benefits
I read carefully
unsure of where I stood
Features are just ideas that haven’t been proven
But are high in expectation
Experience is best gained through experience
This bewitched me into curiosity
2 roads equally flanked by ground covering
No person had dare tread upon them
A flower flickered in the wind
Gently swaying me
I will take a road much less occupied
I know it leads to plenty
I shall give my knowledge of this to many more
2 roads came to a point in the woods
I walked down a path no beauty had flagged
This has but made me flourish
