Crumbs in the Wind

We miss half of what
the world has to offer.
Pay attention before the
championships are won,
the songs played out,
the moments of honesty
undone, pulled out
from under the rug.

Because you’ll realize later,
maybe a reminder
deep in the night,
beside a fire
warming and bright,
that we all have one
final destination,
and if we don’t grasp
onto the little,
important things now,
they will seep
through our fingers
like crumbs in the wind.
