Beeps and Clicks

a poem by LB Sedlacek

Counting plugs

red plugs

electrical outlets

only one

is beige

there are

so many

up and

down the

column by

the movable

bed in

the ICU

water bubbles

constant beeps

and clicks

but none

are for

me; instead

for my

father who

is completely

unaware, unresponsive.
