Creative writing has been a passion of Anita Smith’s ever since she was in middle school. Life happened and she stepped away from it for a while, only writing a poem or short story here and there. Her passion for writing was reignited and aflame ever since 2015, although she did not have any work published until 2018. She has been published in several literary magazines: Genre: Urban Arts (no. 4, 5, 6, 7 and Femme Literary Anthology), Harness Magazine, Polemical Zine (Issue 6, 7, 8), and The Griffin’s Inkspot. She was also a finalist in the 2019 Poetry Matters Project Contest. Anita was formerly a high school English teacher and college professor. She currently works for a medical board as an editor. She has also ventured into spoken word, performing at local open mics in the Raleigh, NC area.
