We Were The Wolves

We Were The Wolves Poem by Cierra Robinson

I watched other people build brick homes

and we, we built a straw hut.

Knowing full well it would never stand up

Against the angry hot winds of darkness that would erupt.

We wanted so badly to protect ourselves from the peril without.

but

We were the wolves

within.
