Four Corners of the Earth

North

From which your enslavers derived
Controlled fear
In every stride
Time
On their side
And a heart
In which
Thoughtless words, actions
And
Hatred and motivation lie

Beaten
Scrutinized
Insulted
Raped
Mis-advised
The force
What was
Derived from
The north

And was bound
To them
As they ran

South
The “S” stands for soul
Which was never lost
Amongst the heat
Hard labor
Or overwhelmed distress

Loved now
As it was
Escaped then
Modernized training camps
Forced a world
Your heart felt sore
Could not breath
Unless you thought of free
Free
Liberation
From the whips and chains
Ignorance gained
Searched for
Free
So
You ran

East
Released
Breath of
Fresh air
Still runnin’
Not lookin’ back
Free

Free to see a life
Of peace
Happy endings
Stress relieves
Night mares
But the memory still lingers
So you ran

West
Planting seeds
Multiplying time
Through generations
Of stories
Held in the snapshots
And Polaroids
Of thought

Living and learning
Abilities now taught
Embarking on a journey
That still remain
In the word
Violet
Escaped
Explored
Traveled
Four corners of the earth
Long live
For life
A representation of
You
